Traditionally, Greeks dye all their Easter eggs a bright red color to represent the color of life as well as the blood of Christ. Historically, eggs were a symbol of the renewal of life and the message of the red egg means victory over death.

Here's a fun game to play this Easter called Tsougrisma!

Needed: 2 players and 2 Easter eggs

The goal of this game is to crack your opponent's egg by tapping eggs; tsougrisma means "clinking together". Each player holds their egg with one of the ends up and lightly taps the end of the other player's egg. The victorious one without the cracked egg will continue to play others and whoever wins is said to have good luck! Note: After one end of your egg is cracked, you may use the other end of the egg to continue playing in this egg. There are no rules on how to hold the egg, how to tap or which end to tap first. The more participants, the more exciting. Have Fun!

This cluster of monasteries built on cliffs in Central Greece is world famous for its sheer existence, balanced on the top of rock towers.

Although the exact date is unknown for when these monasteries were established, as far back as the 9th century a group of hermit monks moved into the ancient towers, living in hollows and fissures thousands of feet above the ground. Saint Athanasios is credited with building the first great monastery and bringing a group of followers there in the mid 1300's. Although more than 20 monasteries were built, only 6 remain today. Because of the difficulty involved in reaching the Meteora, it was a safe hiding place for the monks when Greece was threatened with Turkish occupation. The only way to reach the monasteries was by climbing a long ladder, which was drawn up whenever needed.
