Greek Style Pork Chops

Pork Chops(Small).JPG

Our most popular pork chops are back for July!

Tender and delicious, these pork chops are grilled to perfection and prepared with our signature Greek sauce of lemon, olive oil, herbs and garlic. They are served alongside our homemade Greek oven-roasted red potatoes.

Before the main course, enjoy a Greek salad with all the trimmings (romaine lettuce, feta cheese, olives, tomatoes, green peppers, red onions, cucumbers & Greek dressing) and our house garlic bread.

Suggested Wine: Retsina White Wine

Did you know?
There are 30 places nationwide with "Liberty" in their name? Iowa has more in their state than any other with 4 cities, but the most populous can be found in Liberty, Missouri.

We wish everyone a happy & safe Independence Day!

Greek Food: Exploring Feta Cheese

Most of us are already familiar with this popular Greek cheese and know the look and taste of Feta, and either love it or don't. Here is some interesting information about this versatile Greek specialty.

Feta is a white, salted curd cheese made traditionally from goat's milk, sheep's milk, or a blend of both. It is the most consumed cheese in Greece and the most widely exported Greek cheese. Because it is cured anywhere from a week to several months and is stored in its own salty whey or water brine, it is often referred to as a "pickled cheese".

In 2005, after 16 years of debate, the European Union's highest court ruled that "Feta" is protected as a traditional Greek product and no other EU nation may use that name.

Feta can be used in many cold and hot dishes ranging from the traditional Greek salad, to eating it straight from the fridge with some bread and olives, to flipping it in an omelet or eating a fillo dough encrusted tiropita. If you're feeling adventurous, you can experiment using feta in a refreshing watermelon salad tossed with some red onions and balsamic vinegar.

July is the peak of the tourist season with many people from all over the world coming and going into Greece and its islands.

If you're wondering what the experience is like this month, here's what you can expect with the average July temperatures:

Sunlight: 12 hours a day
Coldest Temp: 50 degrees F
Hottest Temp: 113 degrees F
Average Wet Days: 4

With all this heat in the midst of summer, some of the best time to visit Greece is in May or September. But anytime of the year, it always makes a great vacation destination with its deep history and beautiful landscape.
