Anniversary of the "No"

Greeks worldwide celebrate this special day in Greece's history. It commemorates the day when Greek dictator Ioannis Metaxas rejected Mussolini's ultimatum with a resounding "Ohi" which means "No" in Greek. The ultimatum, which was presented to Metaxas on 10/28/1940 at dawn (4am), demanded that Greece allow Axis forces to enter and occupy Greek territority or else face war. Metaxas' reply marked the beginning of Greece's participation in WWII.

Halloween Tidbits

Here is some fun info that you may not have known about this worldwide Autumn holiday:

  • Costume parties are more popular nowadays than trick-or-treating.
  • For those born on October 31st, folklore says they will have the ability to read dreams.
  • Traditional colors for Halloween are orange and black. Orange for the pumpkins and black for darkness.
  • The word Halloween is a shortened version of the original name for this holiday - "All Hallow's Evening".

FYI FUN: Did you know that October is National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month? It is also the National month for Popcorn Poppin' and Class Reunions.

Gift Certificates are available for any dollar amount.
